Summertime in Illinois is truly special. During the summer months, there are folks who love to cool off by taking a dip in the many lakes and rivers in Illinois…and there are those who love to visit the farmlands and local markets for fresh fruits and vegetables. No matter your preferences, people want to be outside during the summer. There’s an annual celebrated event in Illinois that provides plenty of food vendors, concerts, rides, games, and much more!
The 2026 Illinois State Fair is right around the corner. The event will be held from Thursday, August 13th to Sunday, August 23rd in Springfield. The fairgrounds will be open from 7 a.m. to Midnight during the duration of the event. The State Fair has been celebrated every year in the summer since its inception in 1853. The State Fair is still going strong with attendees and love their favorite summer traditions like the state fair theme foods and concerts. Attendees can also enter to win prize packages that include Fair food coupon bundles, an Illinois beef gift basket, arena event tickets, and some Illinois wine.
Make sure to plan a stay-cation in the state’s capital and enjoy the 2026 Illinois State Fair, plus everything else Springfield has to offer…which was the home of Abraham Lincoln. The Land of Lincoln offers plenty to do outside of the State Fair, like visiting the Old State Capitol Building and the Lincoln Home National Historic site. Take plenty of pictures when visiting!
